Requirements:

 

  • Fifteen hundred (1500) clock hours.

 

  • Students must meet required practical applications and meet entry requirements as set forth by the California State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology.

  • All students, at the student’s expense, will file for and take the California State Examination.

Barber Program

The primary purpose of the Barbering program is to train students in the basic manipulative skills, safety judgments, proper work habits, and desirable attitudes necessary to obtain licensure and for competency in entry-level positions in barbering or a related career field.

 

  • Project a positive attitude and a sense of personal integrity and self-confidence
  • Practice effective communication skills, visual poise, and proper grooming.
  • Respect the need to deliver worthy service for value received in an employer-employee relationship.
  • Perform basic manipulative skills in the areas of shaving and facial hair design, hairstyling, hair shaping, hair coloring, texture services, scalp and hair conditioning, facial massage and treatment.
  • Perform the basic analytical skills to determine proper facial hair design, color application, and skin analysis.
  • Apply learned theory, technical information, and related matter to assure sound judgments, decisions, and procedures.

 

The Barbering course will take 9 quarters to complete as a part-time student

FINANCIAL AID AVAILABLE
